Emsworth

We are located in the historic maritime small town of Emsworth, equidistant  from Portsmouth with it's naval heritage and Chichester with it's imposing cathedral.

Emsworth Harbourfront is exactly one mile (15-20min. walk) from Jingles.

At the turn of the last century Emsworth was at the centre of a thriving oyster business. This was until the oysters killed the Bishop of Winchester and several guests at a banquet in 1902! There are plans to restart this industry.

You will be spoilt for choice by the variety of pubs and restaurants.Emsworth has been the scene of the largest independent food festival in the UK until 2007 when it was deemed too successful and replaced with quarterly smaller events.

Emsworth is also famous for it's many owner-run retailers and was placed in the Top 6 towns in the UK for it's independent nature. We are fortunate to have independent outfitters, general stores, butchers, fishmonger and greengrocers in our village centre.

With it's prolific fishing background Emsworth had 30 pubs to serve the fishermen! We now have eight - not bad for a population of 9,300.

Emsworth is now more famous as a sailing venue with two famous sailing clubs the Emsworth Sailing Club and Slipper Sailing Club.

Around Emsworth

Only two miles away is the stately home Stansted House with it's Garden Show, Concerts and weddings. Hollybank House, wedding venue is only 10 minutes walk away.

The biggest draws though, are Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood horseracing. Goodwood is only 10 miles away and the country roads from Jingles can avoid the rush of the A27.

Hayling Island is only a few miles away for a paddle along the shore.

About 25 minutues drive away is West Wittering beach, one of the best beaches on the south coast.

Enjoy your stay!
